The City Manager directs the activities of all operating departments in the City. Working closely with department leaders and fellow employees, he directs policy objectives and activities to accomplish goals established by the Mayor and City Council. The City Manager also operates as the treasurer, budget officer and personnel officer.

The City Manager is designated by the City Charter to be responsible for the effective and efficient administration of the City organization, working under the general direction of the City Council. Direct supervision is provided to department heads and support staff.
