The City of Hermiston owns a number of buildings and facilities around town, and they all need someone to look after them and make sure that A) major repairs aren't needed, B) minor repairs are done in a timely manner, and C) if major repairs are needed that an outside professional does the work correctly and for a reasonable cost.  This is a very important position which will help the tax and rate payers of Hermiston by protecting and prolonging the lives of these substantial community assets, including facilities like City Hall, Library, Carnegie Library, Public Safety Center (Police & Fire), Hermiston Conference Center, Harkenrider Center, Airport Terminal Building, and others. Pay range is $4,507 - $5483 per month depending on experience, qualifications and or certifications. 

Minimum qualifications required:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent and supplementary education or training related to facility and building maintenance, operations and repairs

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience related to facility operations including electrical supply and distribution, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, concrete, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, and HVAC control systems including computerized controllers; plus building construction

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Valid Oregon Drivers License

  • Must be able to pass the department’s security clearance standards including Criminal History check and satisfactory driving record.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain HVAC local certification.
