Hermiston Police Depart. News - Employees report suspicious vehicle - results in apprehending subjects and charging with Felony Theft.
On the 12th of September 2011, at approximately 6:29 AM, officers from the Hermiston Police Department responded to Circle C Equipment located at 333 E Feedville Road, Hermiston on a report of a suspicious vehicle (a 1987 Dodge pickup) on the property.
Responding officers located the occupants of the vehicle a short distance away (on foot) and questioned them about their reason for being on the property with a pickup full of metal. Subsequent investigation revealed the pickup which was loaded with an estimated $3000 worth of metal, became stuck in the field.
James Daniel Riley, 25 years of age, a transient of Irrigon, and Christina Marie Kettlewell, 38 years of age, of 205 SE 5th Street, Irrigon, were both taken into custody. Both subjects were charged with felony Theft in the First Degree and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton.
"This is a great example of a situation where even though our officers cannot be everywhere at once, the observant employees of Circle C were not only willing to call our agency for help, but to provide a good description of the occupants that fled on foot.", by Lt Jason Edmiston.
