Release Date:
02/13/2012

On the 10th of February 2012, at approximately 5:30 PM, the Hermiston Police Department responded to 1739 N. 1st Street (Old West Federal Credit Union) on a report of a robbery that just took place.  Officers arrived within minutes and established a perimeter.

Very few details will be released at this time but what is known is the following:

  • (2) subjects entered the bank and demanded money.
  • Both subjects were small in stature and believed to possibly be teenagers.
  • Both subjects were wearing dark clothing and had masks to conceal their faces.
  • The subject carrying the bag (in the photo below) was extremely short.
  • The subjects fled with an undisclosed amount of currency in an unknown direction.

At this time, the Hermiston Police Department is receiving assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Oregon State Police.

A $12,500 reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the robbery.  This includes $5000 from the Financial Institution Security Taskforce (FIST), $5000 from Old West Federal Credit Union, and $2500 from the City of Hermiston.

Persons with information are asked to call the Hermiston Police Department at 541-567-5519.

Acting Chief of Police Jason Edmiston says, “We truly have an uphill battle in and with this investigation as there is limited information to work upon. We are extremely grateful for the assistance from the FBI and the Oregon State Police yet we are hopeful word of mouth within the community may provide additional information to bring resolve to this crime.”
