Hermiston Police News Release - Property recovered, suspects taken into custody
On the 4th of February 2011, at approximately 5:15 PM, the Hermiston Police Department was dispatched to a theft call at Maurices located at 894 South Highway 395. An investigation was initiated and Officer Rod Vega began working on identifying what was reported to be two females responsible for the loss of merchandise.
On the 5th of February 2011, at approximately 5:35 PM, Officer Vega and Officer Josh Roberts contacted Dakota J. Winn 18 years of age of 405 SW 11th St. #34, Hermiston, and Stephanie K. Haigler 18 years of age of 405 SW 11th St. #12, Hermiston, at Haigler’s apartment.
Subsequent investigation led to the recovery of a significant amount of property the duo admitted to stealing from various stores between the 4th and 5th of February.
Though the investigation continues with respect to the retrieval of additional evidence (surveillance footage, etc), it is believed this pair was responsible for stealing the following amounts:

In all, $1,455.65 in merchandise was taken. The majority of the property stolen consisted of clothing and other cosmetic items.
Both females were charged and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton with Theft in the First Degree and Criminal Conspiracy to commit Theft. Haigler was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
“The officers worked incredibly well together and received significant cooperation from all the businesses impacted by this crime spree,” reports Lt. Jason Edmiston.
