Hermiston Police News Release - Suspect arrested and charged.
On the 25th of March 2011, at approximately 11:20 AM, Officer Shane Robinson of the Hermiston Police Department initiated a fraud investigation after a 32 year old female reported a check had been stolen from her residence at 1265 W. Madrona Avenue and forged. The investigation showed the check had been cashed by Timothy Alan Jones, an acquaintance of the female victim.
Over the course of the next several days, Officer Robinson made attempts to locate Jones for questioning.
On the 28th of March 2011, at approximately 11:35 AM, Officer Robinson responded to 350 E Dogwood Ave #A on a report the apartment had been burglarized. Officer Robinson met with the tenant who believed his brother Timothy Jones may have been responsible for the theft of (2) video game systems, (8) video games, and just under $100 in cash.
On the 31st of March 2011, at approximately 7:45 AM, Officer Robinson located Timothy Jones walking in the area of W. Hermiston Ave and SW 3rd Street. Officer Robinson took Jones into custody without incident and questioned him about both cases. Jones was in possession of (2) of the stolen video games.
Jones 33 years of age of 625 NW Spruce Street #B8, Hermiston, was ultimately charged with Forgery in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, and Theft in the Third Degree for his involvement with the incident from the 25th of March. Jones was also charged with Burglary in the First Degree and Theft in the Second Degree for his involvement with the incident from the 28th of March. Jones was processed at the Hermiston Police Department and later lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton.
