Regular Meeting

Mayor Severson called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 pm and declared a quorum present. Present were Councilors Hardin, Misner, Harn, Springer, Myers, Calame and Harkenrider. Councilor Davis was excused. Staff members in attendance were City Manager Brookshier, City Attorney Luisi, Clint Spencer, Judge Creasing, Ron Sivey, Jason Edmiston, Erica Franz and Donna Moeller. The pledge of allegiance was given.

Minutes

Councilor Hardin moved and Councilor Myers seconded that minutes of the July 12 regular meeting be approved for filing. Motion carried unanimously.

Report/National Night Out

Police Officer Erica Franz reported on the activities planned for the 27th Annual National Night Out in Hermiston on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. Several block parties are planned and there will be an ice cream party at the home of the Medallion Hunt winner again this year. The Medallion Hunt clues began Sunday, July 25 and another clue will be printed each day until the medallion is found. Erica asked the councilors to help scoop ice cream at the party.

Minutes & Report

Councilor Harn moved and Councilor Myers seconded that the June manager’s monthly report and minutes of the July 14 planning commission meeting be approved for filing. Motion carried unanimously.

Council Comments

Mayor Severson reminded the council members of the Fair Board luncheon on August 7... reported on the Fuddruckers grand opening... Councilor Hardin introduced Reverend Marks, the new pastor at the Hermiston Christian Center.

City Manager Comments

City Manager Brookshier reminded the Councilors of the City Picnic on Friday, July 30 at 5:30... reported there will be a Fair Parade float for the councilors, they need to be on the float by 6:00 pm along Highland Avenue. Parks and Recreation employees plan to walk along side the float and hand out candy.

There was no other business, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm
