Due to inclement weather conditions and in the interest of public safety, the neighborhood association meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, January 19, will be rescheduled for a later date.  We will post a new meeting date as soon as possible.

The City of Hermiston is holding an open meeting regarding the formation of a program to establish neighborhood associations in Hermiston on January 19, 2012 in the council chambers of the city hall.  Back in November, the city council received a request from a Hermiston resident to investigate establishing local neighborhood associations.  In response to this request, you and any other person you think would be interested are invited to attend a meeting to discuss this issue.

Neighborhood associations provide an avenue for neighbors to meet each other in their own homes or neighborhood buildings, learn about and discuss events and issues within the city, and model citizen involvement to their children, all in a relaxed setting.  Associations can provide valuable feedback to their elected officials on local issues like land use, neighborhood watch, recreation activities, traffic issues, city services, and other livability issues affecting neighborhoods and the city.

If you are interested in learning more about neighborhood associations, you are welcome to attend the meeting on January 19, 2012.  The meeting will be held in the council chambers of the city hall, 180 NE 2nd Street, at 7 pm.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact councilors Jackie Myers at 541-567-2018 or Brian Misner at 541-571-0770.
