Sewer/Water Rates
As we reported in the summary of the presentation by Al Shewey of Kennedy Jenks Consultants and Brad Bogus from Tetra Tech, Inc they conducted a review of 18 comparable cities rates reported in the latest Oregon League of Cities sewer and water rate comparisons. In addition the City Manager Ed Brookshier contacted John Heberling with D Hittle and Associates our engineer for HES who has experience not only with rate design for electric utilities but also water and sewer utilities and our financial/bonding advisor, Jane Towery with Piper Jaffrey to prepare a detailed analysis of our anticipated debt service need given current revenues and expenditure, assumed rates for inflation, increases in operationl costs and customer growth, and then to project rate requirements to meet those needs.
The Council is pleased to announce that the analysis shows a cumulative Water & Sewer rate increase need over the next ten years of 14% considerably less that previous projected.
