City Code Now More User Friendly

Release Date:
05/30/2013

Residents of Hermiston can now more easily find the laws of the City by using the new search tool on the City of Hermiston website.

The new search tool allows residents to search for keywords located in the Hermiston Municipal Code. The previous online version of Hermiston’s code was located on the City’s website as regular text, which allows for a keyword search, but also returns those keywords when located anywhere else on the site. For example, if a resident searched the word, "parking," to find out about parking laws in Hermiston, the old search function would return 102 results. The number of results would have continued to rise as more items, like meeting minutes, which use the word, "parking," are added to the website. The new search function limits the search to only words in the Hermiston Municipal Code, and returns only 17 results.

The new version of Hermiston’s online code can be found under the "Government" tab of the city’s website, or directly HERE.
