City of Hermiston Taps Private Sector Expertise

Release Date:

Hermiston is filled with talented business leaders and entrepreneurs who have big ideas for expanding economic opportunities in the area, and the City of Hermiston is all ears.

The recently formed Business Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 16, in the City Hall Council Chambers.  The new committee offers another venue for communication between the city council and Hermiston’s business community, said Mayor Bob Severson.

“Our business community possesses so much expertise on issues vital to our continued economic success,” Severson said.  “The Business Advisory Committee allows us to tap that wealth of knowledge by adding another vetting process to major issues facing our local businesses.”

The Business Advisory Committee is made up of seven members representing the broad spectrum of business interests in Hermiston.  The members include Joe Thompson, owner of East Side Market; Roe Gardner, owner of RoeMark’s clothing store; Karen Hutchinson-Talaski, executive director of the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce; Dennis Barnett, owner of accounting firm Barnett & Moro; Hermiston Chamber of Commerce executive director Debbie Pedro; Jason Graybeal, president of Graybeal-Ferranti Insurance Agency; and Steve Williams of U.S. Bank in Hermiston.
