The City of Hermiston will soon have a new Finance Director.  Amy Palmer, of Prosser, Wash., has accepted the position and will begin in her new role sometime between December 1, and January 2 depending on her ability to find housing.

Palmer comes to Hermiston with more than 20 years of experience in public sector accounting.  She was most recently employed by the City of Sunnyside, Wash. as the Assistant Finance Director.  Palmer also worked for several years for the City of Tacoma in several positions, including Senior Financial Manager.

Hermiston City Manager Ed Brookshier says Palmer’s references described her as bright, conscientious and personable.

“We have truly excellent people in our Finance Department, and I believe Amy will be a great addition to the department and to our staff,” Brookshier said.

Palmer holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Accounting, as well as a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington.  She also holds a Certificate of Public Accounting with the State of Washington and is a member of the Washington Finance Officers Association and the Government Finance Officers Association.

Palmer replaces former Finance Director Bob Irby who retired in July after many years with the City of Hermiston.
