Hermiston Police Department News - fatality crash investigation.

On the 30th of June 2011, at approximately 12:30 PM, the Hermiston Police Department responded to the area of Highway 207 approximately ¼ mile south of Minnehaha Road on a report of a single vehicle collision.  Officers arrived on scene of the crash which was approximately 200 feet just inside the city limits.

Officers found Scott D. Duke 25 years of age of 1215 W Sunland Ave, Hermiston, deceased at the scene.  Duke was operating a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle.

The investigation is ongoing yet preliminary findings are that Duke was unable to negotiate the turn in the road.  Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor in the collision.  Next of kin were notified by this agency.

The Oregon State Police assisted with the investigation.
