Hermiston Police News: Hermiston officers did a great job of being proactive with DUII enforcement.

Between Friday May 25th, 2012 and Monday May 28th, 2012, the Hermiston Police Department dedicated personnel to targeted enforcement for drivers operating motor vehicles while impaired.  During this period, (2) arrests were made for DUII, (2) citations were issued for Minor in Possession of alcohol, and (1) citation for Open Container.

Of significance, officers initiated a traffic stop at approximately 2:20 AM on the 26th of May, on a white Toyota 4 runner driven by Carlos J. Orozco 38 years of age of 80873 Cactus Drive, Hermiston.  The traffic stop took place near the area of W Elm Ave and NW 11th Street.  Orozco was taken into custody for suspicion of DUII.

Approximately 2 pounds of marijuana along with cash and packaging material was located inside the vehicle.  Orozco was charged with DUII, Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana, Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.  Orozco was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton. “Our officers did a great job of being proactive with regard to DUII enforcement, and this is a good example of how important traffic enforcement is.” by Chief Jason Edmiston
