Hermiston Police News: Street Crime Unit Remained Busy Over Weekend

The dedicated two-officer street crime unit remained busy this past weekend.  On Saturday the 15th of June, a second person was arrested for their involvement in graffiti that was discovered on the 11th of June in the area of NW 3rd Street in Hermiston.

Tarzziccio “Dimitri” Mexicano 18 years of age of 1030 SW 11th Street #7 Hermiston, was taken into custody and processed at the Hermiston Police Department for Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree and Unlawful Application of Graffiti before being lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton.

Later in the evening, officers contacted (4) individuals inside a vehicle in the vicinity of the Hermiston Conference Center.  Officers observed the individuals utilizing a glass bong to smoke marijuana.  Officers contacted Joel De Jesus Llamas 18 years of age of Boardman, OR along with (3) other males all from Boardman, ages 14, 15, and 16.

Llamas, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, Unlawful Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a school, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The 14 year old was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon (knife) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia while both the 15 and 16 year olds were charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The juveniles were released to their respective parent(s).   

“We are in a position where it is extremely important for us to send the message if you want to come to Hermiston and engage in illegal activity, you should expect interaction with our officers.  I believe this is what our citizens have tasked us to do," reports Chief of Police Jason Edmiston.
