Hermiston Police News: Successful "Winning the Battle" Seminar

Release Date:
11/15/2012

The Hermiston Police Department facilitated a very successful one-day seminar called “Winning the Battle” from The Pain Behind the Badge at the Hermiston Community Center on November 14th, 2012.  Clarke and Tracie Paris presented their information with incredible commitment and passion using the following as the basis for their work: “The #1 Cop Killer in the United States each year is officer suicide”

Had it not been for the Hermiston Police Department Chaplains attending a conference earlier this year in Spokane, Washington where Clarke and Tracie presented, this training would not have come to fruition.

Additionally, this unbudgeted (and free to attendees) training would not have taken place without the following financial sponsors:

  • Wildhorse Foundation
  • Umatilla-Morrow Head Start
  • Hermiston Fire and Emergency Services
  • Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
  • Hermiston Christian Center
  • First Church of the Nazarene
  • Hermiston Rotary Club
  • Pendleton Rotary Club
  • Templo Fe Esperanza Y Amor Church
  • Anderson Hansell Attorneys at Law
  • Swire Coca-Cola of Pendleton
  • employees of the Hermiston Community Center
  • and City of Hermiston leaders.

In all, approximately 85 people were in attendance to include many spouses and significant others of those serving the public in law enforcement, fire services, corrections, and the medical fields.  This also included people in attendance from the states of Oregon and Washington.
