Hermiston Police News: Suspect Arrested with Multiple Charges

On the 23rd of June 2012, at approximately 9PM, it is alleged Jesse Lopez, 20 years of age, of 460 E Sunset Drive, Hermiston, was involved in an incident where a firearm was brandished. Officers from the Hermiston Police Department investigated the incident and began a search for Lopez.

Photo: Carol C. MendozaIn the late hours of the 9th of June and early morning hours of the 10th of June, Carol C. Mendoza 21 years of age of 1110 8th Street, Umatilla, was interviewed about her involvement with several daytime burglaries that have taken place in the Hermiston area.

At the conclusion of interviews with Detective Jimmy Allen of the Hermiston Police Department, Mendoza was charged with the following:

On the 5th of June 2012 at approximately 5:25 AM, employees of the Horizon Project (located at 890 W Orchard Ave.-Hermiston) contacted the Hermiston Police Department to report Logan J. Blair, 22 years of age, as missing from the confines of the house.  Employees reported Mr. Blair was under court ordered supervision though no documentation could be provided to substantiate that (at that time).

Between Friday May 25th, 2012 and Monday May 28th, 2012, the Hermiston Police Department dedicated personnel to targeted enforcement for drivers operating motor vehicles while impaired.  During this period, (2) arrests were made for DUII, (2) citations were issued for Minor in Possession of alcohol, and (1) citation for Open Container.

Hermiston Police News: Citizen's report leads to arrest of repeat offender

On the 30th of April 2012, at approximately 4:20 AM, an alert citizen called the Hermiston Police Department to report a suspicious male in the area of the 1800 block of NE North Street.  Officers arrived and canvassed the neighborhood.  Officers located Charles Cass Cooley, 33 years of age, of 1790 NE North Street, inside the residence at 1860 NE North Street.

On the 16th of April 2012, at approximately 3:50 PM, officers of the Hermiston Police Department were dispatched to Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church located at 565 W Hermiston Avenue on a report of an unknown Hispanic male yelling and howling.  Officers arrived and contacted Reynardo Mendoza Barrera 31 years of age of 600 SE 4th Street, Hermiston.

Hermiston Police News: Bicyclist Injured

On the 29th of March 2012 at approximately 8:25 PM, the Hermiston Police Department initiated an investigation into a reported crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist after having received a call from a parent of one of the bicyclists.

As a result of the investigation, Alden Jemmett, 28 years of age of 1105 SW 10th Street, Hermiston, was arrested for Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver to Injured Persons.  Jemmett was processed at the Hermiston Police Department and later lodged at the Umatilla County Jail.

The Hermiston Police Department would like to remind citizens of our Anonymous Tip Line, which has been in place for several years. Non-life threatening information can be provided to the agency via a voice message using this phone number.  The tip line is checked daily and both English and Spanish messages can be left. The phone number for the Anonymous Tip Line is 541-667-5148.

Hermiston Police News: Old West Federal Credit Union Robbery Update

On the 12th of March 2012, at approximately 8:40 AM, officers from the Hermiston Police Department, Oregon State Police, and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, served a search warrant at 1740 NE North Street in Hermiston.  The warrant was obtained as the result of the continuing investigation of the robbery at the Old West Federal Credit Union on the 10th of February 2012.

As a result of the activity from today, the following people were taken into custody:
