Hermiston Police News: Chronic Offender Sentenced to 150 Days in Jail

Release Date:
10/13/2014

Over the weekend, Hermiston Police officers took a report of a residence being burglarized and a vehicle stolen from the 700 block of W. Highland Ave. Officers later located the vehicle at 940 NW Stockton Ave, the residence of the suspect, Marcus D. Wise, 26 years of age.

Wise was later located on Sunday at approximately 5:45PM near Funland Park. Wise was taken into custody, processed at the Hermiston Police Department, and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Theft in the Second Degree.

This morning in Hermiston Municipal Court, Hermiston City Prosecutor Blaine Clooten requested Wise’s probation (he had been on through the municipal court) be revoked based on the new charges. The request was granted and Wise was sentenced by Judge Creasing to 150 days in jail.

"Mr. Wise is a person our department has had numerous contacts with over the years. It truly is nice to see a person whom we have arrested 18 times and charged with 46 different things, be held accountable by the city prosecutor and municipal court. Though we know sentencing every person to jail is not the answer, until Mr. Wise decides to stop terrorizing our citizens, having him sit behind bars until next spring is a step in the right direction," stated Chief Jason Edmiston.
