About Sanitary Disposal

All solid waste (garbage, recycling, etc.) in Hermiston is contracted by the local private company, Sanitary Disposal, Inc. (SDI).  SDI collects and manages all curbside garbage collection within the City limits of Hermiston, manages two free recycling centers, and operates a waste transfer station.

Recycling Services

There are currently two free recycling centers in the community. They are located at:

  • 81144 N. Hwy 395 &
  • 1692 NW Geer Road, near Theater Sports Park

Coming Soon - Curbside Recycling

Beginning in July 2025, Hermiston and other cities in Oregon with more than 10,000 residents will be required by state law to provide curbside recycling. The City is currently working with Sanitary Disposal Inc. to develop the program. Check back for more details.
