Roy is the oldest of five children whose family immigrated from Mexico, and is proud to be a First Generation Mexican/American. Roy was raised in Weiser, Idaho, graduated from Weiser High School with Highest Honors and majored in Political Science while at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Prior to becoming a teacher for the Hermiston School District, Roy's employment included working for Umatilla County as a Bilingual Victim Service Advocate and as a Drug Court Counselor, as well as a school-based mental health provider for the RISE Program. Roy enjoys playing baseball, basketball, traveling, drinking coffee, watching sports/politics, fantasy football, reading manga, and hanging out with family.

Community Service

Roy, since 2018, is an Assistant Varsity Coach for HHS Baseball and American Legion Baseball; is a founding member of Raices, a civic engagement grassroots organization operated by local Latino Leaders; and a member of HELO (Hispanic Elected Local Officials) at NLC.
