Access Incentives

The City of Hermiston is committed to creating an environment where businesses can grow and thrive.  New and expanding businesses, in particular, have access to several financing and tax abatement tools through the State of Oregon.

Hermiston Enterprise Zone (Property Tax Abatement)

Certain businesses looking to move, or expand their existing operations, in Hermiston can take advantage of our Oregon Enterprise Zone. Eligible businesses (generally non-retail) growing employment in Hermiston can receive total exemption from property taxes normally assessed on new buildings and equipment for at least three years (but in some cases, up to five years).

E-Commerce Zone (State Income Tax Abatement)

Businesses engaging predominantly in transactions via the internet that make capital investments in Hermiston can qualify for this State of Oregon Income Tax credit which equals 25% of the investment cost. The type and scale of businesses which can qualify for this incentive is very broad and can apply to investments of a few thousand dollars to hundreds of millions of dollars. Activities that are covered by this incentive include taking orders, closing sales, making purchases, providing customer service, shipping/storage for order fulfillment, or other activities which serve the business's overall purpose.
