Traffic Stop Leads to Stolen Handgun

On the 25th of February 2013, at approximately 3:30 PM, Officer Tim Miears of the Hermiston Police Department, observed Benjamin E. Marquez, 19 years of age of 1650 W Sunland Ave #D7, Hermiston, operating a white Mercury sedan bearing Oregon license plate 293CUS.  Ofc. Miears knew from previous contacts Marquez’s driving status was misdemeanor suspended and he had a valid warrant for his arrest out of the Hermiston Municipal Court. 

Hermiston Police News: Assault Investigation Leads to Arrest

On the 21st of February 2013, at approximately 1:30 PM, Hermiston Police officers were dispatched to 645 SE 4th Street #3A in Hermiston, on a report of an assault that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, officers contacted a 22 year old Hermiston male who had injuries requiring the response of Hermiston Fire and Emergency Services.

Within a couple hours of being dropped off in Hermiston by the Kadlec Hospital transport van, the Hermiston Police Department arrested Peter Villarreal for Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.

Hermiston Police News: Update from Daniel Primus

The Umatilla/Morrow Major Crime Team investigation of the officer involved shooting on December 31, 2012 concluded last Friday, January 3, 2013. The investigation included witness interviews and review of surveillance video from the Community Bank and Hermiston Liquor Store. Detectives learned the suspect entered the bank and proceeded to force his way behind the banking counter and forcibly remove cash from a till. The suspect then exited the bank, and went directly to the liquor store.

Hermiston Police News: Release from District Attorney regarding shooting incident

At 3:24 p.m. on December 31, 2012, an alarm was initiated at Community Bank in Hermiston. Several officers were dispatched from the Hermiston Police Department to the bank and, en route, learned that the alarm was for a robbery and was not a false alarm. Eye witnesses reported seeing the bank robbery suspect leave the bank, cross Highway 395, walk through the Fiesta Foods parking lot, and enter the Hermiston Liquor Store. Soon after the suspect entered the liquor store, two Hermiston Police Department officers entered the liquor store and attempted to contact the suspect.

The Hermiston Police Department was contacted by a citizen (who wishes to remain anonymous) that would like to put in place a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of each person responsible for the robbery of the Westside 76 station on the 1st of December 2012.

Hermiston Police News: New look at HPD

The citizens we serve will notice a significant change in the appearance of the marked police vehicle purchased this year and those vehicle(s) purchased moving forward.  Former Chief of Police Andy Anderson instituted the previous decal package in 1996. 

A change with Ford Motor Company no longer building Crown Victoria’s for 2013, prompted an internal query of whether the department wanted to outfit the 2013 Ford Taurus with a new look to coincide with the significant difference in the body style of the vehicle.

On the 1st of December 2012, at approximately 10:30 PM, officers of the Hermiston Police Department responded to the Westside 76 Station located at 710 W. Hermiston Ave. on a report of a robbery having just been committed.

Hermiston Police News: Alleged bank robber arrested again

On the 30th of November 2012, at approximately 10:40 AM, detectives of the Hermiston Police Department located Austin J. Erickson at his residence, 1630 W. Sunland Avenue #D2, Hermiston. Detectives were looking for Erickson due to an active contempt of court warrant for his arrest stemming from a previous arrest of Mr. Erickson for his alleged involvement with the robbery of the Old West Federal Credit Union in February of this year.
